St Luke's Anglican Church in Enmore a lively, inclusive welcoming liturgical community

New Rector announced

The Parish Nominators are very happy to announce that the Archbishop has appointed Jeffrey Ross Parker as our next Rector of St Luke’s. Fr Jeff who was ordained in 1994 for the Diocese of Newcastle, has, for the last 9 years, been the Rector of St James’ Dandenong and is currently an Archdeacon, in the Diocese of Melbourne. This announcement was made in both parishes on Sunday 14 October.

Two Nominators visited Fr Jeff at his Parish of St James Dandenong in early August. We Nominators twice met with Fr Jeff and his family in Sydney, and he has visited our parish on both those occasions. We widely consulted Melbourne contacts and referees before unanimously agreeing to recommend his appointment to the Archbishop. We were delighted when the Archbishop readily interviewed him and accepted our recommendation. The Archbishop also acknowledged that he has the necessary theological qualifications, including Greek.

Fr Jeff is married to Michelle. They have four children; the two eldest daughters live in Sydney and another daughter and son are intending to stay in Melbourne, continuing their university studies.

It is probable that Fr Jeff and Michelle will move into the Rectory in late January with an intention to commence ministry on 31 January 2019. The date of his Induction Service (now known as The Commencement of Ministry) is Thursday 31 January 2019 at 7.30 p.m.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We are all deeply appreciative of Fr Philip’s help during this rather long interregnum and we hope he and Rosemary, whom we have grown to love and value, will remain as vital members of this parish. Fr Jeff is a mature clergyman and has already demonstrated that he is very accustomed to team ministry and working with others.
