The Greeting

And also with you.
Blessed be God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God’s kingdom, now and forever.

The Prayer of Preparation
Let us pray…
Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you
and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Gloria in Excelsis
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to God’s people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King,
Almighty God and Father,
we worship you,
we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ,
only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world;
have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father;
receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy one,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
X in the glory of God the Father. Amen
The Collect:
Almighty and everliving God,
we humbly pray that,
as your only-begotten Son was this day presented in the temple,
so we may be presented to you with pure and clean hearts
by Jesus Christ our Lord;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
First Reading Malachi 3:1-4
A reading from book of the prophet Malachi
Thus says the Lord, See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight-- indeed, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears?
For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap; he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the LORD in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years.
. For the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God
Psalm 67

1 How lovely | is your | dwelling-place:
O | Lord | God of | hosts!
2 My soul has a desire and longing to enter the | courts of the | Lord:
my heart and my flesh re|joice in the | living | God.
3 The sparrow has found a home and the swallow a nest where she may | lay her | young.
even your altar, O Lord of hosts, my | King | and my | God.
4 Blessed are those who | dwell in your | house:
they will | always be | praising | you.
5 Blessed are those whose | strength is | in you:
in whose | heart are the | highways to | Zion;
6 Who going through the | valley of | dryness,
find there a | spring from | which to | drink:
7 They go from | strength to | strength:
they appear every one of them before the | God of | gods in | Zion.
10 One day in your courts is | better than a | thousand:
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than | dwell in the | tents of un|godliness.
11 For the Lord God is a light and a shield, the Lord gives | favour and | honour:
and no good thing will he withhold from | those who | walk in | innocence.
12 O Lord | God of | hosts:
blessed are those who | put their | trust in | you.
Second Reading 1 Peter 2:1-10
A reading from the first letter of Peter
Rid yourselves of all malice, and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation — if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in scripture:
‘See, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.’
To you then who believe, he is precious; but for those who do not believe,
‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the very head of the corner’, and
‘A stone that makes them stumble, and a rock that makes them fall.’
They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people;
once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Gospel Acclamation:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
I have chosen you from the world, | says the | Lord.
to go and | bear fruit | that will | last.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
The Gospel Luke 2:22-40
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke
X Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ
When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, the parents of Jesus brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord"), and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."
Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying,
"Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace,
according to your word;
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel."
And the child's father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed-- and a sword will pierce your own soul too."
There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshipped there with fasting and prayer night and day. At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.
Hymn after the Sermon Bind us together

The Creed
Let us together affirm the faith of the church.
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten not made,
of one being with the Father,
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation Many people here bow their heads…
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and became truly human. …and here stand upright.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
X We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen
The Prayers of the People
We kneel or sit for the Prayers. Various members of the congregation lead us in prayer.
Gracious God,
we pray for our Parish of St Luke,
for our rector and all who worship here.
At this time of change, we pray that this Parish
will always have a faithful pastor,
who will faithfully speak your word
and minister your Sacraments;
an encourager who will equip your people for ministry
and enable us to fulfil our calling.
Give to those who will choose a new rector,
wisdom, discernment and patience.
Give to us warm and generous hearts; for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
After each petition…
Lord in your mercy or Let us bless the Lord
Hear our prayer Thanks be to God
For your love and goodness or X Rest eternal grant
We give you thanks, O God unto them O Lord
And let light perpetual
shine upon them.
And after the final prayer…
Accept our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen
Confession and Absolution
The Sub-deacon says this or another introduction
God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy, welcoming sinners and inviting them to the Lord’s Table.
Let us be quiet while we call to mind our sins.
A time of silence is kept.
Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God’s forgiveness.
Merciful God,
our maker and our judge,
we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,
and in what we have failed to do:
we have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves;
we repent, and are sorry for all our sins.
Father forgive us.
Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The priest says the absolution.
The Greeting of Peace
We stand
We are the body of Christ
His Spirit is with us.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.
We offer each other
the greeting of God’s peace.

The Great Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Christ will come again.
The priest continues the Great Thanksgiving.
We finish by singing…
X Blessing and honour and glory and power
are yours for ever and ever. Amen.
Breaking the bread
As this broken bread was once many grains,
which have been gathered together to make one bread,
so may your church be gathered from the ends of the earth into your kingdom.
Agnus Dei
Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us.
Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us.
Jesus, redeemer of the world, grant us your peace.

Wine of the soul, in mercy shed,

And in Whose death our sins are dead.
Look on the heart by sorrow broken,
Look on the tears by sinners shed;
And be Thy feast to us the token,
That by Thy grace our souls are fed.

When offering the bread, the priest or assistant says…
X The body of Christ [the bread of heaven] keep you in eternal life. Amen
When offering the wine, the priest or assistant says…
XThe blood of Christ [the cup of salvation] keep you in eternal life. Amen
After communion we return to our places and sit or kneel. Silence is kept for meditation.

The Thai Community sings;
Blessing of Sue and Gwilym
Fr Ron Morris, the Wardens and Mac Maitree our Thai Pastor come forward to bless Sue and Gwilym on behalf of us all.
The Angelus and the Dismissal
The angel of the Lord brought tidings to Mary
And she conceived by the Holy Spirit
I am the lowly servant of the Lord
be it done to me according to your word.
The Word became flesh
and dwelt among us.
Blessed in the message Gabriel brought,
blessed by the work the Spirit wrought;
from whom the great desire of earth
took human flesh and human birth.
Lord, we unite our prayers with those of Mary and all your saints.
Let your Word become flesh in our lives
Grant Lord, that as we have known the incarnation of your Son, Jesus Christ, by the message of an angel, so by his X cross and passion we may be brought to the glory of his resurrection. Amen.
The deacon says or sings
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord
In the name of Christ. Amen.

St Luke’s Enmore, the Living Body of Christ
We are the body of Christ because the Spirit of Christ lives in us. We are Christ’s eyes and ears, hands and feet wherever we go, alone or two or three together. At work, at play, at home or on holiday, we are still members of Christ’s body and we should therefore behave that way.
At St Luke’s there are many groups which work together for the good of all. Here are some of them.
A note from the Treasurer:
