TODAY after Morn­ing tea — Chant­ing the psalms ses­sion 2

St Luke’s in almost unique in Sydney in that you as the con­greg­a­tion chants the psalms.  It would be a pity if we lost that tra­di­tion.

If you would like to learn to chant the psalms tra­di­tion­ally or have a refresh­er, Rajah with some assist­ance from Kathy and Kath­er­ine is will­ing to give some point­ers today after morn­ing tea.  So, if you’ve ever wondered what ·  |-  † *  — : , l and ll, double chant and single chant mean please come and join us.

No singing or oth­er music exper­i­ence neces­sary.

Sat­urday 6th Septem­ber from 1pm — Ecu­men­ic­al BBQ

All mem­bers of St Luke’s Enmore along with St Chris­to­phor­us con­greg­a­tion are invited to an ecu­men­ic­al bar­be­cue to cel­eb­rate the begin­ning of spring, at Ron Clarke’s house, 5 Barnes Aven­ue, Earl­wood, start­ing at 1 pm until whenev­er, i.e., come whenev­er you like and stay as long as you like.

The inten­tion is simply to provide an oppor­tun­ity for Ger­man Roman Cath­ol­ics of St Chris­to­phor­us and St Luke’s High Church Anglic­ans to get to know one anoth­er in a relaxed envir­on­ment and to dis­cov­er how much they actu­ally have in com­mon.

Food and drink will be provided, but if you could bring either a small salad or dessert to share, that would be appre­ci­ated.

NOTE: The 7th Septem­ber Taizé ser­vice is post­poned due to the Rect­or being away on leave.  In addi­tion, due to fail­ing attend­ance in the winter weath­er the Rect­or and Peter Sey­mour have decided that the ser­vice will not resume until the weath­er improves and the ser­vice struc­ture will be reviewed at this time.

Tues­day 16th Septem­ber at 11am — ABM Sydney Aux­il­i­ary Com­mit­tee invite St Luke’s parish­ion­ers to a Recon­cili­ation Lunch­eon. In sup­port of ABM’s Recon­cili­ation Work with Abori­gin­al and Torres Strait Islander Lead­ers.

Held at Christ Church St Laurence Hall, 505 Pitt Street, Sydney.

Guest Speak­er, Larissa Min­niecon, cur­rently works with the ABM – Aus­tralia on Gadig­al Land.

Money raised will sup­port the Rev­er­end Glor­ia Shipp, Anglic­an priest, in the ‘Walk­about Min­istry’ she foun­ded, provid­ing an access­ible, cul­tur­ally sens­it­ive church for Abori­gin­al and Torres Strait Islanders in the Cobar, Dubbo, Nyn­gan and War­ren areas of NSW.
