Safe Min­istry at St Luke’s

St Luke’s sup­ports Safe Min­istry. We are com­mit­ted to the phys­ic­al, emo­tion­al and spir­itu­al wel­fare of all people, par­tic­u­larly with­in our own com­munity.

We live out this commitment by:
  • Being inten­tion­al in the way we recruit and train lead­ers of our church.
  • Requir­ing all staff and lead­ers to have up to date Safe Min­istry Train­ing and veri­fied Work­ing With Chil­dren Checks.
  • Encour­aging safe min­istry prac­tices across all min­is­tries occur­ring with­in our church com­munity.
  • Respond­ing to any con­cerns raised about the safety of min­istry hap­pen­ing with­in our church com­munity.
  • Offer­ing pas­tor­al sup­port to any per­son who has suffered abuse.
We utilise The Safe Ministry Blueprint to inform our processes and ensure that our ministry remains safe for all participants.
We subscribe fully to the Diocesan principles of Safe Ministry.  Our Safe Ministry Representative is Susan Hill, who has not only been trained in the principles of Child Safety, but is an instructor in the field.

We also wel­come requests from those who would like a rep­res­ent­at­ive of the Church to vis­it them, pray with them, or to bring them Home Com­mu­nion.

Work­ing Groups

The Op Shop

The Oppor­tun­ity Shop Group con­sists of those who sort goods and price them and who staff the shop dur­ing the week. Mem­bers of the Group enjoy work­ing togeth­er and meet­ing the wide vari­ety of people who come to the shop dur­ing busi­ness hours.

For enquir­ies, please call the Op Shop at 11 Stan­more Rd (oppos­ite the 7/11) or Mob: 0416 913 578 dur­ing busi­ness hours. The Shop is open on Tues­day to Fri­day from 10.00 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and on Sat­urday from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Liturgical Assistants Group

The Litur­gic­al Assist­ants Group con­sists of those whose min­istry is in the con­text of the Sunday Ser­vice. The mem­bers admin­is­ter com­mu­nion, read the Gos­pel, carry the Pro­ces­sion­al Cross, candles or incense.

Cleaning and Flower Arranging

The people in this group find their min­istry in clean­ing the church and its grounds, and arran­ging flowers for the church for Sunday ser­vices and oth­er spe­cial occa­sions. They are usu­ally organ­ised on a roster sys­tem which gives every­one an oppor­tun­ity to shine.
