Thursday 23rd Novem­ber at 11 am – Pau­line Newell’s funer­al will be held here at St Luke’s. 

Parish­ion­ers are invited by Pauline’s fam­ily to attend the funer­al and stay for the gath­er­ing in the hall after­wards.  If you plan to attend, please bring a plate of sweet food (cakes, fruit etc).  Pauline’s fam­ily have arranged savoury food to be provided on the day by a cater­er and St Luke’s will be provid­ing the tea and coffee.

NOTE: THE OPSHOP WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE DAY SO THAT VOLUNTEERS CAN ATTEND THE FUNERAL.

Christ­mas Cards for 2023:      We encour­age parish­ion­ers to vis­it The Lep­rosy Mis­sion, ABM, or The Bush Church Aid Soci­ety web­sites to order their own cards this year.   We have a small num­ber of packs of Christ­mas cards from 2022 for sale in the Com­munity Resource Centre.  Please see Steph­en Gates after church.

 

Are you going away for Christ­mas?   Fr Jeff is look­ing to have a Christ­mas ser­vice on Wed­nes­day 20th Decem­ber strictly for those who are head­ing off on hol­i­day for Christ­mas.  Is this you?  Please speak to Fr Jeff if you would come to this service.

 

Nurs­ing Home Gifts: As is our usu­al cus­tom, we take a small gift to each patient at the Stan­more Nurs­ing Home in Cam­bridge St at Christ­mas time. Your dona­tion no mat­ter how small helps the par­ish to pay for a selec­tion of equal value gifts — usu­ally chocol­ates, or some­thing suit­able for those patients who are dia­bet­ic.  If you would like to donate please place your dona­tion on the offer­tory plate in an envel­ope marked “Nurs­ing Home”, or donate online with ref­er­ence “Nurs­ing Home”.   Many thanks for your generosity!

23–25 Feb­ru­ary 2024 — Par­ish Retreat: Booked at the Old Mon­as­tery Stroud (Fri­day even­ing to Sunday after­noon).  We will start tak­ing names for reser­va­tions in early Decem­ber 2023.  The bed­rooms are nearly all single rooms with shared bath­rooms, and we will be self-catering.

 

Food for our worms – Leave your worm food gifts at church on Sundays or drop off dur­ing the week.  Please remem­ber to remove the strings from your teabags.  (N.B. — no dairy, cit­rus, onions or meat).
