Thank you to Fr Michael Dea­sey for tak­ing our Sunday ser­vices for the next few weeks while Fr Jeff and Michelle Park­er, and Fr Philip Brad­ford are away.  We wish them safe travels.  Fr Jeff and Michelle will be away on long ser­vice leave until 10th Septem­ber 2023.  Fr Philip will be our Locum from Wed­nes­day 12th July until their return.

Monday 26th June — the Lord May­or Clover Moore AO will be present­ing a Lord May­or­al Minute to next Monday’s Coun­cil meet­ing (26 June) shortly after 5pm — acknow­ledging the life of Fabi­an Lo Schiavo and his ser­vice to the com­munity with ref­er­ences from Fr Jeffs ser­mon giv­en at Fabian’s Memori­al service.

It will be pos­sible to view the meet­ing online at Live Web­cast | City of Sydney meet­ings web­cast (nsw.gov.au)

Sunday 17th Sept — 40th Anniversary of Sydney MOW

Cel­eb­rated at Christ Church St Laurence Hay­mar­ket, at the 10.30 a.m. ser­vice, where the Arch­bish­op of Perth, Kay Goldsworthy AO, will be our guest preach­er.  Fol­low­ing the ser­vice there will be a lunch­eon in the hall and a short lec­ture giv­en to hon­our the life of the late Dr Patri­cia Bren­nan, who foun­ded Sydney MOW.

If you are a mem­ber of MOW please ensure you renew your sub­scrip­tion pri­or to the event.  An RSVP date and lunch­eon cost will be announced by next month.

If you would like to join our mem­ber­ship please go to the MoWatch Aus­tralia web­site and renew online or see Ruth who is the Sydney Con­ven­or.  We will be respect­fully ral­ly­ing out­side Syn­od again this year to raise aware­ness of the status of women in this dio­cese.  Sydney is still a work in progress!!

Trin­ity Salute paint­ing at St Luke’s Enmore

An event is being planned dur­ing the next few months to cel­eb­rate the Trin­ity Salute paint­ing in the Church.

What is the paint­ing about?

Please see below a link to Fr Jeff’s You­Tube present­a­tion about the paint­ing, notes on the scrip­tur­al and artist­ic con­text of the work, inform­a­tion about the Guwiy­ang Trust which has loaned the work to the Par­ish (“Guwiy­ang” means “Fire” in the Eora lan­guage), and media reports about Peter Nor­man and the event at the 1968 Mex­ico City Olympic Games depic­ted in the painting.
