Wed­nes­day Morn­ing Euchar­ist in the Chapel - a request was made to ask all those who cur­rently attend the ser­vice, if they prefer the cur­rent ser­vice time or to revert to the former 10 a.m. time.  A sur­vey was taken and the major­ity reques­ted it remain at 10.30 a.m.

Ashes for Ash Wed­nes­day — Please have a look at home for last year’s palm crosses and bring them into church.  It is these we burn to make the ashes for Ash Wed­nes­day (18/02).

TODAY Sunday 1st Feb­ru­ary a meet­ing will be held for all wel­comersThere have been a num­ber of decisions made by the Par­ish Coun­cil to ensure the safety of parish­ion­ers and to give more assist­ance to the clergy and to our vis­it­ors. If you are a wel­comer, it would be bene­fi­cial if you would attend.  Please get a tea or cof­fee and some­thing to eat quickly and come into the back foy­er of the church.  If you are inter­ested in becom­ing a wel­comer, please come too!

It is also Fr John Bunyan’s 90th Birth­day cel­eb­ra­tion at St John’s Gor­don at 2 p.m. He would be very pleased to see you there if you can make it. Enquir­ies to Ruth, who has one seat spare in her car.

Sunday 15th Feb­ru­ary we will cel­eb­rate Pan­cake Day (ahead of Shrove Tues­day when we used to hold this in the rect­ory and burn our Palm Crosses in read­i­ness for Ash Wed­nes­day).  Par­ish Coun­cil con­sidered the rect­ory unsuit­able for use this year giv­en the cur­rent renov­a­tions tak­ing place.  We would like to make this a small fun­draiser for the par­ish, and we will ask for a mon­et­ary note of $5 or more for the pan­cakes, if you are able, but tea and cof­fee will be free!!  We can have the Eft­pos handy for those who nev­er carry cash!!  Some of us will assist the Chiew fam­ily with pan­cake bat­ter — which may actu­ally be more large pike­let size but will taste the same. Maple syr­up and ice cream or straw­berry jam and cream will be avail­able.  We hope you will stay and join in the fun.  The Par­ish Coun­cil will meet as soon as pos­sible after morn­ing tea in the Office.

Sat­urday 21st Feb­ru­ary at 3pm for a 3.15pm start — Cinema Para­diso:  Salute — The story behind the image (2008)

This film, dir­ec­ted and pro­duced by Aus­trali­an sprint­er Peter Norman’s neph­ew, tells the story of the polit­ics, and more pro­foundly, the faith behind the image. The film premiered at the 2008 Sydney Film Fest­iv­al, win­ning the Audi­ence Award for Best Aus­trali­an Doc­u­ment­ary.

Inter­val with espresso, pro­secco and cheese, con­clud­ing at 5.30pm.

Eli­ot was an Anglo-Cath­ol­ic, and his Four Quar­tets is a pro­found med­it­a­tion on time, pres­ence and faith. He is explor­ing Chris­ti­an mys­ti­cism in his poetry, and it was inspired by his own spir­itu­al beliefs.

Sat­urday 18th April – Rail Pil­grim­age to Mor­peth: Mark­ing the 100th Anniversary of the open­ing of St John’s Theo­lo­gic­al Col­lege

FARES include return train travel with reserved seats, coach trans­fers from Mait­land to and from Mor­peth, and pil­grim­age lunch with wine.
