ANNOUNCEMENT – OUR NEW RECTOR

St Luke’s Enmore is delighted to announce that Rev’d Jack Arthur Mon­aghan will be next Rect­or of St. Luke’s. An Anglic­an priest of the Dio­cese of Adelaide cur­rently serving in the Par­ish of Kid­man Park and Mile End in Adelaide, Fr Jack and his wife Jeanne will arrive in Sydney from Adelaide in late Novem­ber and Jack will be com­mis­sioned as Rect­or at a ser­vice at St. Luke’s Enmore at 7 PM on Monday 30th Novem­ber 2026 at which Bish­op Michael Stead will preside. You are warmly invited to attend.

Jack trained for the min­istry at Saint Barn­a­bas Col­lege, Adelaide in the Anglo-Cath­ol­ic tra­di­tions of our par­ish and has served in sev­er­al par­ishes in Adelaide as Dea­con, then Priest. He has a Bach­el­or of Theo­logy from the Uni­ver­sity of Divin­ity, con­ferred in May 2026. His min­istry has been shaped by par­ish lead­er­ship, com­munity engage­ment and extens­ive exper­i­ence in pub­lic ser­vice and cor­rec­tion­al envir­on­ments.

Pri­or to his call to min­istry, Jack had a rich his­tory of work in the com­munity, includ­ing as a cor­rec­tion­al officer in a pris­on, work­ing with Angli­care, in reg­u­la­tion of casi­nos and hos­pit­al­ity. These var­ied pos­i­tions have put him in touch with a wide vari­ety of people in our com­munity and equipped him to relate well with people in diverse and some­times dif­fi­cult situ­ations.

Jack sees his min­istry as being col­lab­or­at­ive and inclus­ive and he and Jeanne look­ing for­ward to min­istry in the inner west.

Jack says: “I am com­mit­ted to fos­ter­ing wel­com­ing, inclus­ive, mis­sion-focused, and out­ward-facing par­ish com­munit­ies where people can grow in faith, find belong­ing, and par­ti­cip­ate in God’s work in the world. My strengths include col­lab­or­at­ive lead­er­ship, faith­ful preach­ing, pas­tor­al care, and the integ­ra­tion of wor­ship, dis­ciple­ship, and ser­vice. Min­istry exper­i­ence across a broad range of Anglic­an con­texts, includ­ing under both Anglo-Cath­ol­ic and Evan­gel­ic­al super­visors and along­side both women and men in lead­er­ship, has strengthened my appre­ci­ation for the breadth of Anglic­an­ism and the value of work­ing col­lab­or­at­ively across dif­fer­ent per­spect­ives and min­istry styles.  I am mar­ried to Jeanne, whose sup­port, encour­age­ment, and shared com­mit­ment to par­ish life have been an import­ant part of my min­istry jour­ney…. As a mem­ber of the Soci­ety of the Sac­red Mis­sion (SSM), my min­istry is informed by a desire to nur­ture com­munit­ies that are pray­er­ful, com­pas­sion­ate, com­mit­ted to social justice, engaged in their loc­al com­munit­ies, and ded­ic­ated to shar­ing the love of Christ with their neigh­bours.”

The nom­in­at­ors saw in Jack and Jeanne qual­it­ies of warmth, open­ness, com­mit­ment to the Gos­pel and a will­ing­ness to wor­ship with us in the Anglo-Cath­ol­ic style.
