On Sunday 18th Octo­ber at our 9.30am ser­vice we will be cel­eb­rat­ing our St Luke’s Patron­al Fest­iv­al with a spe­cial guest preach­er and former rect­or, The Very Rev’d Steph­en Wil­li­ams, Dean Emer­it­us of Christ­ch­urch Cathed­ral New­castle and known to a few long-stand­ing parish­ion­ers.

St Lukes Enmore is delighted to announce that The Rev’d Jack Arthur Mon­aghan will be our next Rect­or.

Cur­rently serving in the Par­ish of Kid­man Park and Mile End in Adelaide, Fr Jack and his wife Jeanne will arrive in Sydney in late Novem­ber. A com­mis­sion­ing ser­vice will take place at St Luke’s Enmore on Monday 30 Novem­ber 2026 at 7pm. Bish­op Michael Stead will preside. You are warmly invited to attend.

Jack trained for the min­istry at Saint Barn­a­bas Col­lege, Adelaide and holds a Bach­el­or of Theo­logy from the Uni­ver­sity of Divin­ity. His min­istry has been shaped by par­ish lead­er­ship, com­munity engage­ment and extens­ive exper­i­ence in pub­lic ser­vice.

Jack has a rich his­tory of work in the com­munity, includ­ing as a cor­rec­tion­al officer in a pris­on, work­ing with Angli­care, in reg­u­la­tion of casi­nos and hos­pit­al­ity. These exper­i­ences have developed his capa­city to relate well with people in diverse and some­times dif­fi­cult situ­ations. He is also a mem­ber of the Soci­ety of the Sac­red Mis­sion, and is sup­por­ted and encour­aged by his wife Jeanne, whose shares his com­mit­ment to par­ish life. In his own words:

“I am com­mit­ted to fos­ter­ing wel­com­ing, inclus­ive, mis­sion-focused, and out­ward-facing par­ish com­munit­ies where people can grow in faith, find belong­ing, and par­ti­cip­ate in God’s work in the world. My strengths include col­lab­or­at­ive lead­er­ship, faith­ful preach­ing, pas­tor­al care, and the integ­ra­tion of wor­ship, dis­ciple­ship, and ser­vice.”

It is a big move for Jack, Jeanne and their lab­rador George, but they are look­ing for­ward to min­istry in the Inner West, and we very much look for­ward to their arrival in late Novem­ber. Let us “wrap our arms around them with love”, to wel­come them to beau­ti­ful Sydney and our amaz­ing St Luke’s faith com­munity.

The Revd John Bunyan has a very lim­ited num­ber (30) of his latest book, Around The Broad Land: Pray­ers and Read­ings for the Circ­ling Year.  John has paid for the print­ing.

These books, are numbered and signed, and are avail­able for dona­tions of at least $100 to send via ABM to the Epis­copal Dio­cese of Jer­u­s­alem.

The money is for Al-Alhi Hos­pit­al, foun­ded by CMS in 1882, and the only Chris­ti­an hos­pit­al in Gaza, with no income from nor con­nec­tion with the Hamas author­it­ies.  Details of this small but very import­ant hos­pit­al are on the dio­ces­an web-site.  Even our small gifts will give encour­age­ment to those who care for young and old, sick, wounded, trau­mat­ised, or dying, in very dif­fi­cult cir­cum­stances, and show that our Church in the “Holy Land” is not for­got­ten.

A note from the War­dens in the event someone becomes ser­i­ously unwell at Church

This note is to assist every­one in the unfor­tu­nate event that one of us becomes unwell at Church to the extent that it could be ser­i­ous, and in the worst case, requires an ambu­lance to be called.

First of all, it’s in all our best interests that we all take steps, whatever that might be for each of us as indi­vidu­als, to be as well as pos­sible when we come to Church.

Firstly, in the event one of us becomes so unwell as to faint or become unre­spons­ive, we ask that you do not crowd around the per­son or their part­ner or fam­ily. Keep calm and carry on as they say.

Secondly, a Warden and/or Par­ish Coun­cil­lor present will attend to the per­son and con­sult with any of you who have health­care train­ing or exper­i­ence.

Thirdly, we will require your part­ner or fam­ily mem­ber to tele­phone 000 and to speak to the NSW Ambu­lance Ser­vice and to fol­low their instruc­tions.

Fourthly, we will tele­phone the NSW Ambu­lance Ser­vice if your part­ner or fam­ily mem­ber does not wish to do so. The reas­on for this is that we can­not prop­erly assess or care for any med­ic­al situ­ation, espe­cially a poten­tial crit­ic­al incid­ent or emer­gency.

Fifthly, whilst await­ing the advice and/or attend­ance of the NSW Ambu­lance Ser­vice, we will tend to your imme­di­ate com­fort.

Please note: if you are in receipt of an aged care pen­sion, please carry your card with you as this will be required to be shown to pre­vent an ambu­lance charge.
